JUDE POKORNY REPRODUCTIONS
"FOOTHILLS"
Eighty-five and going strong.
Abby, a fit name for the strength
Seen in her face. Walked
Four miles to town and back,
Every day in the same shoes,
Scarf on her head.
I offered a ride on days
Inclement.
A polite woman she was in her
Refusal.
Alone in my truck, with thoughts
Of my own.
Twenty years, and I still see
Her face.
JP
"SIGNS"
Ancient accounts
Of moon and star.
Enduring symbol of
Carthaginian, Siberian,
Greek, Muslim
History.
Symbol of Greek goddess
Diana.
Ancient!
Then, hiking through
the Southwest;
Pictographs on
Canyon walls,
Moon and Star.
1000 years young.
JP
"EVENING GARDEN"
Spending time with
The night.
The moon the object of
My muse.
Flowers in my way
Need attending.
Easily done.
Wildflower meadow at night,
One of the loudest spots
To spend an evening.
Quick sketch,
Quicker exit.
JP
DAY
Clouds in daylight
Take shape and form
Feed one's fancy
With imagery.
EVENING
They stalk the moon,
Cloaking the light,
With
Shape and form.
NIGHT
A wondrous time!
JP
"ECLIPSE"
Sept 28th.
Sat on the porch,
Cup of coffee in hand.
Watched for what
Seemed like hours.
No pictures,
Just memory
Capturing the view.
Quiet evening,
With woodsy sounds
Catching the dog's
Fancy.
Perfect night out!
JP
"LINKS OF MEMORY"
Behind that door,
Most of forty years,
He worked and honed
His Craft.
Everything I know of wood,
Learned from him
In that shop.
Lingering smells of
Sawdust and
Strong coffee,
Let me know
He's there.
JP
"PRAIRIE EVENING"
Place and time
Revisited.
Seemed the right
Thing to do.
Nothing here that
Isn't wild.
Nothing here that
Isn't as it was
Two hundred years
Ago.
If I were only
There then.
JP
"MORE THAN ENOUGH"
"Never catch a break,"
Said Harold.
"Not from these storms,"
More rain than
He needs.
More wind than his crops
Can handle.
Livestock jumpy in
Their pens,
Soaked rows of
Fresh turned hay.
Never-ending battle
In the middle of
This land.
