With paintings that cover a myriad of locales, Bruce Peeso depicts the subjects that are America.  An old farmhouse.
A solitary barn. These images recur throughout his work, suggesting a grander past. This interest in nostalgia has been evident throughout his career. Although today these images rarely are the focus of the work, they still play an integral role.

His work today focuses on the Americal landscape. Drawing on the tradition of the painters of the Hudson River School, his extensive travels provide him with a unique sense of the land, its color and its atmosphere.  With these considerations, each work captures the feeling of the particular place.

The strength and serenity of his work can be attributed to its simplicity. The paintings are not cluttered, but rather, often simple.  While many of the pieces contain a structure, the intent is not necessarily for that to be the subject. The appeal is the expansiveness of the space surrounding the building.  It is the interplay of light and shadow that gives the painting feeling, sets the mood, and plays a major role in the design.

Bruce Peeso received a B.F.A. in painting from Ohio University in 1973 and has been a full-time artist for the past
thirty-five years.  His work can be found in numerous public and private collections, including the Disney Corporation, the Scotts Company, Mr Burt Reynolds, and Mr. John Walsh.  In addition his paintings have received more than 350 major awards, including over 100 Best in Show honors.
